What is Alternatives?
Alternatives is a ministry of Youth With A Mission. It seeks to extend Christ’s love and compassion to people in pregnancy crisis situations and post-abortion trauma. The aim of counselling in Alternatives is to enable those seeking help make an informed decision about their situation, based on facts and not on fear, panic and pressure. Alternatives is affiliated with CAREconfidential in the UK.
Who is Alternatives?
We are staff of Youth With A Mission and Christian volunteers from different churches in and around Brussels who give their time to meet with those in a crisis situation.

Who do we help?
We help any woman in need, irrespective of age, race, marital status or religion as well as the father or friend and those related or associated. We operate 95% of the time in French.
How do we help?
Our specific services include:
- Confidential counselling
- Free pregnancy test
- Medical, financial and adoptive information and referrals
- Baby clothes and baby furniture
- Help in finding mother and baby home, or housing
- Post abortion counselling
How do we work?
All our volunteers follow a training programme and then are involved in counselling with an experienced counsellor. We have monthly team meetings where we share, encourage and pray together. We have a Mission Statement and a Code of Ethics.

How can you be involved?
If you are a Christian woman living locally, by becoming part of our team of counsellors. Contact us to find out about our next training programme.
If you are full-time with YWAM or a DTS graduate (preferably with some knowledge of French) and have a heart for women in this kind of distress, contact us for more info.
